State Competition

State Competition 2010

State is a major competition with 1600 runners in 8 separate events. EHS was well represented at State this year. Ariana Goddard placed 121 our of 175 and smiled when most could only display anguish and anxiety. Powell Dix and Daniel Miller both ran in a fast paced event that was at least 1 minute faster than we have seen at the local level. Both boys stepped up and ran faster than their personal best and finished the event strong. Powell placed 81st and Daniel placed 141st in an event that had over 200 participants. As coach of these student athletes I am very proud of the character and sportsmanship that all of them displayed in Jefferson City. With a total of nearly 10,000 people at this event, I was continually welcomed by friends of EHS, both past and present, and by people at the even to whom I will probably never know their names. Most said they were impressed with how a small school is so well represented in all extracurricular activities. As season closes, I want to remind all that this is just the beginning and to continue to look forward to success and that we will find the prize is more easily obtained.
